His smile widens slightly and he shrugs. “I think so. But I’m sure there are those who would think otherwise.”

Meg grinned and held her arms in front of her. “Yeah, that makes sense I guess.” She paused for a moment and chewed her lip for a moment. “So what’s it like in Baron? What makes it so cool for you?”

He sits back, crosslegged, and rests his chin in his hand - as if thinking. “I would suppose it’s the fact that I get to live in a really big castle with all the people I care about.”

*blinks* I wanted to see what was under the helmet.

And it was too difficult to ask?

*steps back**curious eyes* Why do you hide your face?

I don’t hide my face. I protect it. [he reaches up and removes the helm, attaching it to his belt in order to keep it out of the way]

He looked down at the young child before him and gave her a small smile. Kneeling in front of her he removed his helmet and set it to the side so as to avoid alarming her with it’s dragon-like appearance. “I am from the Kingdom of Baron.”

As he knelt down and removed his helmet Meg studied him a bit closer. He definitely looked less intimidating without his funny hat on. “Kingom of Baron?” she repeated softly. “I’ve never heard of that place. Is it cool there?”

His smile widens slightly and he shrugs. “I think so. But I’m sure there are those who would think otherwise.”

[blinks] Is there a reason you’re so close to my face?

“As you wish…Light.” He straightened from the bow and took note of the raised eyebrow. “Ah, how rude of me. Allow me apologize for hiding my face in such a manner,” as he spoke he reached up to remove the helm, a cascade of bright blond hair held together only by a small leather band was released from inside and he reached up to run a hand through it absentmindedly.

Lightning barely even caught another glimpse of him before his face and hair were fully revealed. Her head tilted off to the side and she was hardly in full focus, having blinked only once since the change. Surprising. He looked like a warrior in itself — had the face and the eye of one. She knew.

“You didn’t have to. Not if you’re uncomfortable.”

His smile returned, this time a true smile. For some reason he found himself wanting her to like him. Wanting her to see the man instead of the weapon. “I’m not in the least. I only desire to avoid insulting one who has been so courteous to me by refusing to show my face.” He reached up to release his hair which fell around his shoulders, and with the other he clipped the helm to his belt so as to free his hands once more.

Meg looked up at the strangely dressed man. She had never seen anyone dressed like that in Thebes before. There had been plenty of oddly dressed people in the Coliseum from time to time but none like him. She took a tentative step forward and cleared her throat. “Hi mister. Where are you from?”

He looked down at the young child before him and gave her a small smile. Kneeling in front of her he removed his helmet and set it to the side so as to avoid alarming her with it’s dragon-like appearance. “I am from the Kingdom of Baron.”

Again the ghost of a smile. The compliment feeding the ego he tried to tell himself he didn’t have. Looking at her from under his helm, one crafted in the likeness of the dragons he so admired, he allowed her a better look at his proud features and the near smile. He pushed off from the wall slightly and stood full and proud, bowing slightly. “I thank you for the praise Lady Farron.”

There was a moment of split hesitation. Curiosity, even — the way he acted, the way he moved. He had some sort of background within royalty. Whether miniscule or otherwise, she wasn’t quite certain herself, but it was there, evident in the way he moved and the way he spoke. One thin rose-tinted eyebrow lifted in question, brief yet evident.

“Don’t have to be so formal. Call me Light.”

Curious. The way she held herself implied one of great status and strength, and he had no reason to doubt these things as of yet. Though he was prepared to consider this woman an ally, his instinct told him to remain alert and aware - ready to summon his lance in a moments notice. “A beautiful name, and one befitting its owner.” He wasn’t lying; he would be a fool to dismiss the fact that she was beautiful if not more so than the woman he had devoted his life to once upon a time.

Flattery. As much as she wasn’t the biggest fan of it, she could say that it worked its charm upon her when given the right opportunity. This was one of them, she supposed — she didn’t feel the need to knock his teeth in when he said so, as reverse to those who had tried time and again.

Lucky man, he was. She had nothing but bad luck with men. This one held some sort of.. promise.

“—And your name makes you sound like a true warrior.”

On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you think I understand the character I roleplay?

The ghost of a smile appeared on his face as he studied her with sapphire hues. She was clearly a warrior like himself, but one of a different class altogether. Still, he was weighing the possibilities of considering her an ally while he spoke, his voice as soft as was possible for one used to issuing orders, “Perhaps I should introduce myself. I am Kain Highwind.”

Kain. The name itself held high significance, and if he weren’t beyond just a simple warrior, Lightning would begin to question things. The armory he chose to wear told her a few different things — he had to have been encased in some sort of battle at any given time, he must’ve been ready to pounce if given a threat.. And maybe even the fact that he stood tall and mighty, and had a damn good reason. She couldn’t confirm any except for the first note.

“Lightning Farron.” Nice, smooth, and simple.
